Q) What can a visual artist do when away from the studio? A) Make art anyway!  After many years in corporate life my husband needs to escape the not great winter weather in Cleveland OH.  So we travelled by car making many stops across the county on our way to Southern California.  Without my space and supplies I "worked" anyway.  As with other artistic disciplines requiring skill such as voice or instrumental, for me making visual art is a practice. During our trip to the southwest United States, I kept in touch with my creativity by making 12 of these small collages, using stencils, found objects, packaging, and vintage magazines and ephemera. And we had fun fun fun... (you know the rest). To check out all 12 of these small collages visit my Instagram.

Is every piece an artist creates actually a self portrait?

We the fortunate, design our lives in many ways..by the we dress, furnish our homes, prepare meals, and present ourselves to the world.  It’s all the creative process.  The choices visual artists make are confirmed by personality and experience, be it subtle, outrageous or full of vim, as I’ve had my work described.  If you think you aren’t creative… look around, look inside, you are the  creative artist of your life.  Below “Never Alone” 24x24” mixed media

I am not young but I am not old. I am wise but I have a lot to learn. I am not pretty but I am beautiful. I am kind but I am not weak. I am strong but I am not dominant. I am proud but I am humble. I am brave but I am not fearless. I am a mate but I am not a slave. I am an individual but I am a citizen. I am healthy but I am vulnerable. I am a realist but I am a dreamer.

As a child I would try to see colors when my eyes were closed. Understanding my eyes were not closed but my rather my eyelids. Also fascinated by the colors of tar bubbles , I “painted “with the those colors! My poor mother, I constantly questioned her to be certain that all people saw colors the same as each other. What if my green was your orange? We would all be looking at the same thing convinced we all saw the same thing!
